Chateau Dusseau was founded by brothers Robert and Stephen Dusseau, originally from nearby Moravia, who have been making wine for years. They had long dreamed of opening a winery and in May of 2006, this was made a reality.
After about five years of developing the site, building the tasting room and wine making facility with their own hands, Robert and Stephen look forward to a bright future and an ever-expanding clientele. The brothers, who have always enjoyed and loved dry red wines, have produced continually impressive vintages of Reds while also branching out to expand their offerings to include dry whites and some sweeter varieties as well. No matter your tastes, you will find something to satisfy your pallet at the Chateau Dusseau.
“Our customers – people from all over the world – come in out of curiosity because they’ve seen our flags on State Rt. 90, and then are so pleasantly surprised over the quality of the wines,” says Robert, the principal winemaker. “They equally love the placement of the site, high on a bluff where the Cayuga and the Seneca Lake basins can be seen to the west. The view from here is spectacular, especially at sunset! We invite you to come taste our wines and see for yourself how beautiful it is here.”
