Vineyard

The Chateau Chateau Dusseau's vineyard is situated on a high bluff in southern Cayuga County. Grapes grown here must be cold hardy to withstand extreme winter temperatures. For this reason, French-American hybrid grapes grow well here.

About two acres of vineyard have been planted, and more young vines are planted every year. Varietals include Chelois, Chancellor, and Cayuga, but the terroir of the site (a combination of the particular climate, the soil, geography and topography) seems to lend itself to the Aurore grape in particular. This may be the reason the Aurore wine has been flying off the shelves!

When you visit the winery, ask for a tour of the vineyard and enjoy the ambiance and beauty of Chateau Dusseau.
